Trustees of Ludlow Hospital League of Friends were represented and took part in the first Singalong Alzheimer/Dementia Group at Ludlow Assembly Rooms.  A joyous time was had by all – those living with memory issues, their carers, volunteers and supporters.  The event is enabled by League of Friends recent donation to Ludlow Assembly Rooms to support community initiatives for mental and physical health.

This was a test event, organised by Ludlow resident Nino Binns, herself a carer and a passionate campaigner for supporting those who need it.  We brought in some musical specialists who run these events in the Shrewsbury area but, longer term, they won’t be able to commit to travelling to Ludlow.  Nino and I are now following up some leads to find suitable session leaders so we can continue these get-togethers.  Sadly, practical and financial support for those living with memory issues has decreased sharply and it is only with financial support from organisations such as Ludlow Hospital League of Friends that these local community get-together events are possible.  We fill a gap between doctors, hospitals and social care – this is a chance for a bit of fun, networking with people in the same situation locally and shared experience.

Thank you for your support – you can see that the League is now able to reach wider into our local community and enable these vital events that support physical and mental well being.

Please join us!

If you would like to be involved, as volunteer, carer of or indeed someone who is dealing with memory issues such as dementia or Alzheimer’s, please contact us in order that I can include you on our distribution and invite list.  You will be most welcome.
